Hi ! My name is Max, I was born in 2005 somewhere in the French countryside, and I’ve always wanted to make music.
Music’s been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My dad’s the one who made me want to learn how to play guitar. I remember watching him play the opening riff to Hotel California and thinking, “I want to do that too.” So I did, I picked up guitar lessons when I was about 8 and found out about how cool music could be all over again.
I’ve also always loved to sing. I probably became insufferable when I learned how to accompany myself properly. I would play the same ABBA songs nonstop until my fingers hurt. It was also during that time that I figured I wanted to perform. Playing songs for myself was nice, I loved it ! But sharing them was a thousand times better.
It didn’t take long before I started making my own stuff too. I think I was about 11 when I wrote my first song. It wasn’t good, but I remember being so happy I’d created something. So I haven’t stopped ever since.
I joined my first band back in 6th grade, a rock cover band supervised by my math teacher, which was super fun. I also joined my school’s choir at the same time, which allowed me to explore two distinctly different repertoires ; going from Sabbath to The Beach Boys was so much fun.
I went on with that pattern in High School, too. I joined music class and quite frankly loved it as well (shocking, I know).
After high school, I went on to study music for two years, played some of my first shows, wrote some more, and now here I am !
I’m still pretty much the same person I was 12 years ago, unless now I get to share my music, the way I’ve always wanted to. Little me looked up to Dolly Parton, Stevie Nicks, and Joni Mitchell; turns out I still do !
I still write on the guitar, more often than not. I write songs about everything and nothing at all, about me and about complete strangers, about things that rubbed me the wrong way and things I dream about. I like to think there’s a little bit of my home in each and every one of my songs, some sunshine, an open sky, a golden field, and a sense of freedom.
If I were to put my music inside a genre, it would probably be 70s Americana meets modern-day girlhood.
My point is, if you enjoy Fleetwood Mac, we’ll probably get along ;)
